deactivate or replace fans ??

hello hello, dear helpful ghosts.
i am wondering whether i can find a way to avoid the awful noise of my OS 6850-24.
i have replaced the fans in the main housing with papst fans of equal size, but it didn´t boot correctly. what do i have to do to tell the software to ignore the problem or what else is possible ?
