unable to login

hello hello, dear forum!!
i have purchased an OS 6850 lately (used), and i can´t log on to it.
i seem to have found the current IP adress by pinging, but i wouldn´t be permitted by TCP/IP.
having read the manuals, i tried to log on over the console port, but either i don´t have the right cable or i don´t have the right adjustments to do so.
there is no answer on the hyperterminal session, although i tried with three existing cabling-layouts, and the lithium-battery was removed for a few hours.
the three LED seem to show, that it works (or at least boots) correctly, but (scientifically correct) i just don´t know...

what in the world can i be mistaken with ??

THX in advance for thinking, please provide me with "common knowledge" also.

here in the forum you will find a lot informations about the correct serial connections - it is the same for all the omniswitches. If you see finaly there output during the power up you are able to interrupt the boot. Also there you will find informations here - about to reset the password via miniboot.
best regards

hello hello, dear forum,
hello Silvio, thanks a lot for your quick reply.

i found out, that at least 2 posts regarding cabling are not helpful.
what actually did work now (YES, I GOT IT), is the hint, that console cables and adopters made by (and for) cisco systems DO NOT WORK. Alcatel uses its own connection scheme.

now let´s snap to it...
