IPTouch 4028 Resetting

Post by garth »

Hi,

I am have just installed 15 new phones in my organisation for a new section we are creating. These phones are attached to a cisco 3560 PoE 48 Port Switch and no computer is attached to the IP Phones. I am having a problem because about 3 of the phones I installed are resetting intermittently about 4 to 5 times a day.

Here is the defence 99 log from one of the Sets

From incvisu I have these notifications

19/11/07 11:08:10 000001M|19/03/0/178|=3:0378=IP Phone sig incident 6,(19,2),00:80:9f:66:f2:8a,342

I have checked the physical cabling in the wall. Swapped the ports and ran a fluke down and got no errors, I have changed ports on the switch, I even changed sets and the issue is still occuring.

I am also getting Protocol errors come up in incvisu and I am not sure what these mean if they could be related.

Normally I see this when the phones do not have the right binaries installed, so they reset trying to download the correct binaries, but there are issues for the ip phones going from certain binaries to other certain binaries so they continually reset. I believe their is a TC on this.

First thing to check is:
19/11/07 11:08:36 000001M|07/00/-/---|=3:4401=Ethernet broadcast reception disabled due to excessive traffic
This is a very bad sympthom.

Second of that: check incinfo GEA 0378
INCIDENT NUMBER: 378
Network indicator: Alcatel 4400
OBJECT CLASS: Dhs3Terminal
EVENT TYPE: EquipmentAlarm (4)
PROBABLE CAUSE: EquipmentMalFunction (15)
SEVERITY: Minor

"IP Phone sig incident P1"
"P1 : Error type"
"P2 : Crystal number of the signaling board (optional)"
"P3 : Board number of the signaling board (optional)"
"P4 : Ethernet Address"
"P5 : Set number of set if possible"
"Incident Format : P1,(P2,P3),P4,P5"
"Signaling link problems on"
"link establishment or existant link shutdown"
"Several causes"
"Depend of the error value P1:"
" 0 Lien out of order - IP Coupleur IP not initialized"
" 1 Lien out of service - MAC Address already allowed"
" 2 Lien out of service - IPV6 not supported"
" 3 Link out of service - IP Coupleur lack of ressources"

" 14 Link out of service - IP coupleur out of service"
" 20 Link On on a Out Of Service Set - idle state -"
" 21 Link On on a Out Of Service Set - active state -"
"no reaction of the system."
"Check IP ressources boards within ip phone"
"Check the physical connexion plug"
"On Cause 20 and 21, only notice the problem, and give"
"it to the R&D support. This is a defense mecanism which"
"should be actif only on a very bad IP network.";
On this incident:
19/11/07 11:08:10 000001M|19/03/0/178|=3:0378=IP Phone sig incident 6,(19,2),00:80:9f:66:f2:8a,342
6 = Link out of service - Link down
19,2 = Shelf, Board
00:80:9f:66:f2:8a,342 = Mac Address

Seems that by some reason the phone lost connection with the PBX, taking on consideration the next message I'd say it's a network problem. Do you have VLANS for each equipment? How is the priority on them?

Hi all,

Once i´ve experienced a problem like this on with a brand new 4068´s, and the problem were with the binarys, i had to reset them, voilá everything´s right.
(I made a SW upgrade on that weekend, and the 4068´s, were the one´s having problem´s)

What does the system respond to the "downstat" command?
I have a problem on one of my sites, but with 4039 phones. They fail to download the binaries from the system. I get some errors but they seem to work fine.

Regards.
