Dismount all cable (biside power).
at both switches remove both vc-files within working f.e. with "rm vc*".
Than reboot both with "reload from working no rollback-timeout". And now (during the reboot) connect them via the QSFP-DAC (ports at the front right side). Than wait 10...15 minutes.

yes. Without the vcsetup.cfg the chassis are looking for neigbors through the dedicated vfl ports and make all the election of chassis-id and master-role automaticly. At the end the virtual chassis (vc) is established.

In most cases it works (have seen it very often successfully). You have f.e. one working switch and now you will add one more chassis. Do the points like written. The new switch will automaticly join the vc, it will get the software and the config from the old switch and will do a restart again.
Best way is to use in the new switch the same main release like in the old one. If the software is not very different than you can keep the software in the new one (f.e. both 8.4...8.7). But if you have in the running switch f.e. 8.1 and the new has 8.6, it is not recommended to do so. Here it is better to upgrade the running switch to a newer release (with downtime).
