Alternative of STP?

Hello,
I'm doing research for school on how to prevent a switch(DIST) from crashing if it's connected with a switch(FE) which has a loop on it.
There is also another switch (BB) that is connected with DIST.
The point is to ping from a pc connected on DIST to BB.
implementing stp on the DIST and the FE prevents the loop for causing trouble, but the scenario in reality is that I can't access the FE switch whitin my environment.
SO it's like stp shouldn't be configured on the FE but I need to find something else to put in the DIST to avoid/prevent the loop from causing damage.
If I run command (show interface 1/2) I can see the interface receives a massive load of multicast frames.
Somebody that has an idea?
