Hi

We have 2 stacks of 4 x 48 port 6450 switches. Every port on the switches is patched in but I know that there are some ports not in use. I have some new users starting on Monday and I need to patch them in.

Is there a command I can run that shows me how long a port has been inactive ?

I don't want to simply just unpatch all the ones where the light is off because those ports might be desks where the user is just out for a few days.

Any help would be appreciated

at show interfaces (or show interfaces 1/1) you see "last change".
With omnivista you have the possibility to filter for all ports that are f.e. inactive since 1 month.

All I see there is the last time link changed, thats not exactly what I was looking for.

Is there someway I can filter it so I only see the operational status ?

For example it I do a show interfaces 4/47 I get this

if you would like only to see the actual state:

But sometime a pc is powered down - than the port is down too. Often people want to see ports that where not used in the last weeks. For this was my last answer.
