Multicast configuration point of view

Post by plegrand » 19 Dec 2018 06:18

I'm trying to configure multicast on OS6250 and OS6450 to use imaging soft (ghost or fog)
Does this config : http://plegrand1.free.fr/multicast%20config.png is ok to make it works ?
I add this command on the querier switch : ip interface Querier address 192.168.39.244 mask 255.255.255.0 vlan 2

Thanks for your help

Hello Silvio,
to test my configuration multicast i made this :

On all the switchs :
ip multicast vlan 2 status enable
ip multicast vlan 2 zapping enable
ip multicast vlan 2 version 3
ip multicast vlan 2 querier-forwarding enable

On the querier switch (where the ghost server is) in addition to previous command
ip multicast vlan 2 querying enable
ip interface Querier address 192.168.39.244 mask 255.255.255.0 vlan 2

It didnt works.
My question is the following :

Do i have to also made this command globally ?
And then, do i have to disable all of these commands on all vlans except in vlan 2
Thanks for your answer

Does this configuration can impact the wake on lan packet ?

You can do your commands global or per vlan - it is the same in your case. You have an ip interface at the querier. So only in this vlan 2 the multicast traffic should be forwarded. But I never used the "version 3" command. Normaly we use per default version 2 (IGMP). I am not sure what occoures if your MC clients are sending IGMPv2 Packets. But you can find it out if you delete this line in all your switches.
Have you checked the querier status at all your switches: show ip multicast querier
and all your MC traffic: show ip multicast source/forward/group ..... ?
