Could it be that the MSN numbers in PolyCom are wrong configured?

On most ISDN equipment agaist Alcatel PBX, you need to configure the MSN nb in the device to ONLY be the extension number. NOT all the digits. Just the internal number.

MSN nb= ISDN nb. = Extension number.

And in the Polycom you have to define all of the line numbers. Not shure where, but i guess it's under some Network-setting menu.

Example : You have a BRA/ISDN DID nb. = 123 456 789. And the internal BRA/ISDN (for the same line) = 6789. Then you have to configure the linenumber in Polycom to be 6789. NOT 123 456 789.

When the Polycom dials out it dials on the first line an negotiate the other numbers with the remote system, and the tries to call them.

I guess that you have testet your BRA-lines with a phone or something? So that you know they are working.

No, this is sssuuucccchhhh a pain in my butt..

I have a T1 and no ISDN, so they used BRA2 to emulate ISDN for the polycom. I created 2 users per S0 , so I can use each of the B channel on each line. I can make a 128Kb call, but nothing bigger than that. I have nothing to test those stupid ISDN lines. Anyone live / work in the city (New York) and would have an ISDN tester ? :-)

Thanks !

Okay, it looks like I had some success. If you test the BRA2 with an ISDN tester, you have to put it in ST terminal, and not U terminal.

The spid number is the full number with 0101 at the end

The country protocol for the BRA2 HAS TO BE USA, and the protocol type of the S0s HAS TO BE ETSI. When you have this setup, then the protocol emulate NI1 (National ISDN)

If I have more informations, I will post it in here.

Just an exstra info. You don't need 2 users per S0. You can use the same number twice.

I hope that you figure it out.

I have just done this in Norway, and we use ETSI. No problem there.

Good luck to you.

Ok. I had this trouble ticket opened with Alcatel France for 2,5 months now. We changed 3 times the BRA2 board (everytime I received one, it was broken), and made some changes on the configuration.

Alcatel France just came back to me, telling me that they found a bug on this kind of configuration: Using a BRA2 for ISDN over a DPT1: You cannot get faster than 128K connection.

Good ! They are going to release a patch in early September that should fix the thing,

I have tested this with France. No luck in making my calls outside of my local area. The carrier was receiving a digital call from the Alcatel and converting to voice when a handoff to another carrier occurred. In the local provider, AT&T, they traced the call to the other carrier, Quest, where the handoff occurs to find the problem. The Alcatel system always showed the digital call leaving in the trace.
