Hello,

I tested this on one of my systems and it works.
Just one comment: The two mentioned services "Sun Directory Server .." were renamed into "Oracle Directory Server ...".
It is probably better to boot the entire server in step 6 and not only the 2 services.

After changing the directory manager password again in order to encrypt it, you can run ToolSOmniVista again in order to reset you adminnmc password or any other administrator password.

3) Modify line: nsslapd-rootpw: {SSHA}5lh……

(CLEAR means you can fill in the password in a readable format – like 'hugo')
DON'T SAVE THE MODIFICATON YET!

4) Stop service: 'Sun Directory Server 7.0 Control Center'
Stop service: 'Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0'

5) SAVE the modification of 'dse.ldif'

6) Start service: 'Sun Directory Server 7.0 Control Center'
Start service: 'Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0'
(The 'Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0' should start automatically, if not start it)

7) Use the ToolsOmnivista.exe to change the password of the 'Directory Manager'; otherwise the password isn't encrypted in the 'dse.ldif' file.

many thanks doublezero, you saved me! :) :)
I managed to restore a backup that failed because of wrong password .... thanks to your procedure, I replaced the {SSHA} with {CLEAR} passwords used during backup, and now the procedure is successful!
Very very thanks! It caused me many pains!
