Primary MLA vs Multi-Line

I am knew to the Alcatel-Lucent world so be kind.
I have a virtual extension that is setup as Primary MLA. 5 other extensions that are multi-line are set up as a secondary MLA so their set will ring when someone calls the main number. I have a 8118 WiFi Mobile-IP Touch phone that I want to setup in the same format, but it will not let me had a secondary MLA to the mobile-ip touch phone. It also will not let me tandem the phone with the main extension or do set supervision.
So here is my question:
I did get it to work when I made the Virtual extension 2082 have two multi-lines. I then did a set supervision from 2080 (Mobile IP Touch 8118 phone) with the 2082. I also attached a DID number to it. It rang as I wanted it to. So my question is, is there an advantage to using the Primary MLA vs multi-lines?
Thanks
