New IP address Range for IP Phones

Post by arp09a »

System Info: OXE PXC 4400 running R10.1.1

I am needing to create a new ip address range for IP Phones to be used at a different location as our OXE ( we have a VPN Tunnel to use for this VLAN). I have not do this before on the OXE so I am looking for some guidance on the "how to". One question I have , "Is it a relatively simple process or not?"

Looking for some guidance before attempting...

Thanks

of couse ... simple is relativ ... ;)
this is more a network design quest.
1. you have to declare how the telephones get their vlan address if needed (ava or lldp)
2. then you have to declare how the telephoned get their ip address information. (local dhcp server, dhcp server from hq or from oxe). if oxe must be the dhcp server-> a dhcp-relais function must be installed in the router of the "different location" and a dhcp scope must be managed in oxe.

btw... for me vpn for voip is not a real good idea. nobody can give guarantee for bandwidth, delay and jitter...
