4038 not answering calls when handset lifted

Hi,
I've recently been put in charge of our OmniPCX system and have had no training so far so please excuse the question however i have nowhere else to turn. The previous guy in charge of the system had just set up our receptionist with a 4038 handset plus the addition 40 key speed dial unit. The issue is that when the phone is ringing, lifting the receiver does not answer the call, it instead thinks you are wanting to make a new call... and to answer the incoming call, you instead have to press "take call" on the screen. I have looked through the options and cannot for the life of me find the option to change it. I have however tried to use the handset without the 40 key unit, and that appears to work. So, I'm thinking, when the speed dial unit is plugged in, is the handset counting it as a headset maybe? My question is, is there any way to change the handset function, so lifting the receiver answers the call? I have full access to the Omnivista4760 control software too if changes are needed there.
Many Thanks in advance,
James
