Hi all,
I'll need your advices on this point :
I've :
- the shelf 1 with :
- 1 GD with MADA3
- CS a
- T1 links and SLI cards
- the shelf 5 with :
- 1 GD with MADA3
- CS b (for CS redundancy)
- T1 links and SLI cards
This PBX is hosting IP-Phones (4018).
My problem is the folowing one : when I make calls from IP-Phones to analog phones (or through my T1 links), the compressors used are the ones of the shelf 1's GD card.
But when every compressors of this GD card are used, I've congestions messages. The compressors of the shelf 5's GD card are not used despite they are free.
Is that normal ?
In the case where my shelf 1 is down, the compressors of shelf 5's GD card are used. Which means that the PABX knows the status of these compressors...
Is there a way to make a pool of compressors ? Like for a T1 shared trunk for example ?

How is number of compressors for IP devices configured on each GD?
How are IP domains configured and which board and phone belongs to which IP dom?

for my tests in lab, I just set compressors for IP devices to 1 for each GD (this is to simulate congestions)
Every GD belongs to same IP domain (number 0)

IP domain is configured as follow :
IP Domain number = 0
Country = Default
Intra-domain Coding algo. = Without compression
Extra-domain Coding algo. = Without compression
FAX/MODEM intra domain call transp = NO
FAX/MODEM extra domain call transp = NO
G722 allowed in intra domain = NO
G722 allowed in extra domain = NO
Tandem primary domain = -1
Domain Max voice connection = -1
IP quality of service = 0
Trunk group ID = -1
IP recording quality of service = 0
Time zone name = System default
SIP survivability mode = NO

It will depend on which T1 the IP phone is using. For example:

Shelf 1 + T1 #33334444 + GD + MADA 3 (24 VoIP resources).
Shelf 5 + T1 #55556666 + GD + MADA 3 (24 VoIP resources).

When the IP phone makes an external call using T1 #33334444, it is used VoIP resources from MADA 3 of GD that is connected on shelf 1, because T1 #33334444 is also connected on shelf 1.
When the IP phone makes an external call using T1 #55556666, it is used VoIP resources from MADA 3 of GD that is connected on shelf 5, because T1 #55556666 is also connected on shelf 5.
Then, when all resources from MADA 3 of GD on shelf 1 are busy, IP can't make an external call through T1 #33334444 because there is no free VoIP resources. It isn't going to use the VoIP resources on shelf 5, even if they are free, because T1 #33334444 is not connected on shelf 5. The RTP packet must go to the shelf 1.
To solve your problem, install a GA board with new VoIP resources on shelf 1.
