Upgrading from a very old Firmware

Post by mickwire »

I have an Alcatel 6400 which is running very old firmware.

UBoot Version: 6.3.3.276.R01
UBoot-miniboot Version: 6.3.3.276.R01
Firmware Version: 6.3.4.411.R01 GA, June 05, 2009

I am planning an upgrade to 6.4.5.R02. I understand that I must update the FPGA, Uboot and Miniboot before I can perform the AOS
upgrade. My question is, can I make the jump from my old Uboot/miniboot Version to the newest with no problems?

Thanks for any help in advance,

Mick

There are relase notes which each release, which state the minimum code to start with.. so try to get to this code (e.g. read RN of that required code if you can jump from your version).
I would not try to "cheat" unless this is a lab device and you want to test. stick to the mentioned upgrade path.

Hi Mickwire,

did you already do the upgrade to 6.4.5?

We have two stacked 6400 omniswitches with Firmware 6.3.4.542.R01 and Uboot/Miniboot 6.3.4.265.R01

AFAIK I have first to upgrade to 6.4.2.R01. Would be great to hear if you already sucessfully did the upgrade, and, if you still remember, whether you had to do anything special.

thanks!
