OmniSwitch 6900 Virtual Chassis mode

Hi all,

I'm experiencing OS6900 in virtual chassis mode.
All is working fine, but something seems to be strange on the synchronisation between the 2 switchs.
As you cann see synchronisation status is NOT SYNCHRONISED on theRunning Configuration.

But when i list the files on vc_dir and certified directory the files are the same but the date is not the same.
When i do copy running certified all seems to be ok.

What is missing ?

Thanks

Did you try a "write memory flash-synchro" as well?

It's working fine in my setup:

Code: Select all

Core > show running-directory

CONFIGURATION STATUS
  Running CMM : MASTER-PRIMARY,
CMM Mode : VIRTUAL-CHASSIS MONO CMM,
  Current CMM Slot : CHASSIS-2 A,
  Running configuration : WORKING,
  Certify/Restore Status : CERTIFIED
SYNCHRONIZATION STATUS
  Flash Between CMMs : SYNCHRONIZED,
  Running Configuration : NOT SYNCHRONIZED

Core > write memory flash-synchro

File /flash/working/vcsetup.cfg replaced.

File /flash/working/vcboot.cfg replaced.
Please wait..............

Core > show running-directory

CONFIGURATION STATUS
  Running CMM : MASTER-PRIMARY,
CMM Mode : VIRTUAL-CHASSIS MONO CMM,
  Current CMM Slot : CHASSIS-2 A,
  Running configuration : WORKING,
  Certify/Restore Status : CERTIFIED
SYNCHRONIZATION STATUS
  Flash Between CMMs : SYNCHRONIZED,
  Running Configuration : SYNCHRONIZED

Core >
What not works in my setup is a "takeover" (i have to "reload chassis-id 1 from working no wollback-timeout" but this will hopefully be fixed in one of the next releases.

hello

Yesterday by a setup on a customer I see the same issue with "not sync".

My version 7.3.2.344 (last release available when writing this post), I see that when a mkae write memory flash synchro, you have for 5 seconds all well synch, and after
running config is not in synch anymore.

I notice that in this code you have by default spb configured, mvrp enable, and stp in flat mode.

I will open a case at alu.

Hi,

I'm very appy to see that someone else as the same problem.
I'm running the same version as you, i supposed that is a version problem, because i try to change the running directory to the working, because before i was on vc_dir wich was a custom running directory but i'm facing the same problem.
And when i reload the chassis, before the virtual chassis is functionnal each switch is well synchronized so it's not logical.

Please could you tell me what Alcatel suggest you ?

Merci .

Hi All,

In OS6900 there is a feature "Dynamic Auto-fabric" which is enabled by default in OS6900 in standalone mode. When you configure the standalone chassis in virtual-chassis mode the same configuration will be copied to the vcboot.cfg and due to this feature only, the running configuration is not synchronized. By disabling this feature you will be able to see the synchronization. Moreover the problem regarding the SPB configuration; even in standalone switches also the SPB configuration is seen due to vf link attached to the port of the switch when switch is rebooted. If you remove the vf-link first and reboot the switch you will not see any SPB configuration.

The auto-fabric feature will automatically save LACP, SPB and MVRP configuration. Please check the network configuration guide for more details.

Hi all,

Thank you for your answer, you were right, i've disable the Dynamic auto-fabric feature and now the synchronisation is OK.
I didn't notice in the documentation this feature, because i've used the exemple in the network documentation to built my vc.

Thanks a lot you re great.
