i know only mtcl password. is it possible to break passwords of su and swinst? is there any way or contact alcatel?

Google is the answer. :D
If you search for words you mentioned you'll get hella lot of sites with all passwords.
But good practice is to change all default passwords in a system.

if it is Ux version of 4400 & you can get ftp access there is a backdoor way.

You can ftp to the system using the account name 'halt' passwd 'tlah' (if it hasen't been changed already) the rename the .profile to anything else. Then login as halt & you will have uid of 0, now you can change the passwds

If you changed your root password and lost it, you can change it back from the expert menu in swinst..

Hi Franck,

How do you do it ? I've a menu to change my password at the next login but it demands yet on me the password root ...? :roll:
I've forgotten something :shock:

I just wrote an article, with a document on how to recover root password.
Once you get this one, you can setup any user passwords:

The only ones that can change password for other users are root and swinst.
If you lost those password, you'll have to use the recovery method that I wrote.

root can change swinst and other users
swinst can change root and other users

that's all
