Hi there. Can anyone please tell me where are cpuid and hardware key stored on appliance server? I've set up a 6.1 release on vmware and it says that "hardware key not found" and "cpuid not found".
Thanks in advance!

Those are embedded keys on the OXE.
When Alcatel generates a license it will always be based on your CPU ID, so as you are uploading a license for another PBX you got that error, however you'll be able to use it for 30 days.

And on an appliance server? If so - where??

Hello,
In an appliance server, as in the "new" BICS (business integrated communication solution), the hard key is in an USB dongle.
To make it work, AL have installed the VMware server over a Linux distribution with a flex server application to control the soft locks.

You must upload a license that you have, but you can use it only for 30days (by the way Alcatel can sue you if you use that outside your laboratory) . Alcatel doesn't offer sw or hw keys for VmWare.

As I say before, in an Appliance you don´t have hardkey.
The hardkeys are actualy out of use because they only work over old Crystal CPU´s. In the latest CS the CPU ID are in the BIOS of the CPU.
On some of the new Appliance´s, the licenses are managed from a USB dongle.

See BICS documentation or TC.
In BICS, cpu-id is remplaced by a USB dongle, and in your database, you must modify licence configuration to use flexlm server (localized on BICS if my memory not too bad).
In Appliance, the CPUid is the bios key.
In vmware, the bios key is desactivated in OXE software to limit use in labs only.

Hi, what I think Billy was getting at is on an appliace server (not bics vmware) where does the cpuid come from? Is it special bios in servers supplied by Alcatel? if you load onto a server the customer provides how would you find the cpu id to rehost?

Appliance Server can be only hosted on IBM special servers (I think they have a special BIOS) and lately in HP Servers, you can't pickup a Dell or X server to load the software, simply Alcatel will not suport it.
The hardware key comes from a CPU identification. You can get it doing a spadmin and then read CPU Key option.
