problem with juniper ?

Post by arminas »

Hi,

we have a bank costumer one network with 100 nodes .All of them have GHDSL lines .
some times we can see that hybrid link is down but we can telnet or ping the node. i mean connection is up.

i analize with tcpdump and i see that node sent a 300 byte udp packet but juniper doesnt sent to centaral pabx.we restart the juniper router and juniper sending our udp packet and hybrid link is up again !!!

we see that nearly 4 or 5 nodes' hybrid link is down in a day and we have to restart juniper or plug out network cable of pabx from pabx and plug in to pabx again and hybrid link is up again !!!

why does it happen ? anyone face off like this problem before ?

thank you

does the juniper have IDP running on it - if so you should put in exceptions for all the PABX's

Do you have the RIP (gated) process enabled in netadmin?

I think it should be enabled on the backbone & Routing nodes.

I am not 100% sure though

@zanex

"does the juniper have IDP running on it - if so you should put in exceptions for all the PABX's"

what do you mean IDP ? you mean UDP ?? i can ask IT specialist of Bank about any juniper configuration.
and how can i put in exceptions for all the pbx ? can you explain it please

we never change any rip before from netadmin all setting is default.
do we have to change any rip from netadmin ? can you explain it ?

today customer's 5 nodes is down again same problem different nodes not same nodes . we can ping traceroute and ftp transfer to these nodes but ABC-F hybrid links packets doesnt go through juniper some times
we restart juniper and until tomorrow it is ok but it will be back again link will be down

thanks for reply again

arminas,

We were told in the release 3 days not to put this (RIP) on when using Hybrids.
The reason was that back then there was a lot of on demand signalling being used (b channel, d channel. etc.)
Putting it on would have caused a lot of on demand calls as routing information was passed.

All our links nowadays use IP signalling so RIP should be on.

RIP is only used on the C1 and the tunnels.

Advantages are that the CPU's will keep their C 1 addresses up to date and all Nodes on the Network will be aware of any links going down and to route around them.

thanks for reply, knightr1der

we solve the problem . our alcatel pabx send to another pabx hybrid keep alive message ( 300 Byte) and juniper router drop this packet.

because of that this packet is drop, hybrid link is down and no ABC-F connection. we can see all of them from tcpdump on pabx.we are sending and the other pabx is not recieving only waiting for packets

juniper experts now searching this problem.

thanks for help.

Juniper Networks Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) - its a licensed add on that you can get on a heap of their firewalls and routers
