How-to Request

Post by ericmars »

A novice user, I am now delving into the documentation of OmniPCX but I have two urgent requests from the owner of the company that I would like your assistance with!

We have a large number of different companies operating under the same roof, therefore using PM5, can someone give me a brief how-to on the two following issues:

1. On all external-to-internal calls, we would like the number that was called (or better yet, configurable DDI id - e.g. company name) to be displayed our phone when ringing and/or different ring-tone per company name.

2. How do I direct one specific DDI number to a physical phone (and then to that person's voice mail?)

I do understand that these are incredibly rudamentary questions, however I am still learning, and as there is no training available in my area, it will be a while until I get through the 5,000+ pages of documentation that I am going to have to read before I can understand all of this!

Name of the company can be don by sending the number to a group and give the group the correct name. Sending it to the correct phone and the persons voice mail your do it in the same way. Name and voicemail can be don but is a bit harder.

First try the numbering thing okay? ;-)

Numbering => Numbering plans => public numbering plan will do this

Hi there! I have now managed to get the name displaying when the calls are coming in, which is great. This is displayed for any subscriber that is a member of the hunting group.

I now would like to know:

1. Can I set a different ring-tone to be associated with the hunting group / DDI number? So that all the calls (no matter where it rings) for Company X will ring with one ringtone, and all the calls for Company Y will ring with another?

2. How do I now go about getting the DDI calls (one number assigned to one hunting group with only one subscriber) to go to that subscribers voice mail as opposed to our general mailbox when the call is unanswered?

Many thanks!!

(1) No, cant be done.

(2) Send the call to a virt term, give that virt term a immed fwd to the hunt group, dynamic route the call to vm. All calls will go to that virts vm, make a Voice Mail Unit key and give it the virt's xtn number.

Boom bada bing your done

Hey there Jigger! Many thanks for your speedy response..

1. Thanks very much! It's what I thought, I just wanted confirmation from a pro.
2. OK... I have tried to do this, but I cannot se the 'immediate forward' to the hunt group. If I'm not mistaken, this should be done via Subscribers/Basestations List - Details - Diversion.

When I click on the "Diversion" button, I am greeted with a "Data Synchronization Problem" of 1 Error and 2 Warnings. Looking into the Log, it gives me the following messages:
01/06/2007 10:13:31 : Online save ERROR: subscriber misc on subscriber - XX-XXX-XX - Insufficient Right
01/06/2007 10:13:31 : Warning - Invalid value received for Subscriber XX-XXX-XX : Field Terminal Type
01/06/2007 10:13:31 : Warning - Invalid value received for Subscriber XX-XXX-XX : Field Terminal Type
I have posted this question on another thread here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1930&hilit=

Can you just confirm that it IS in fact through this "Diversion" that I am meant to set the immediate forward? (I will then await a response in the other thread for that problem).

Thanks a million!

Hello again Jigger!

OK... I did a cold-reset, and reentered all of the values, I have now gotten rid of XX-XXX-XX. My new problem is this.. I have set everything up great, and it SHOULD be working. Only trouble is, it appears as though I cannot make a Mailbox for the Virtual Subscriber! I used the extension 250 for my virtual subscriber and:

The folowing from the license export (I think is relevant):

Voice mail ports 2
Voice mail storage 20
Mailbox greetings Enabled
Distribution list Disabled
Record online Disabled
Automated Attendant Closed
Audio Text Disabled
Fax modem switching Disabled
Greeting Messages 4
Customized Music on Hold 2
Remote Customization (VMU) Enabled

When I am in the Virtual Terminal's "Details" screen, and I click on "Mailbox", I am greeted with the message:

Subscriber 250 has no mailbox, do you want to create it?

When I click "Yes", an error occurs, the transfer log shows:

Online save ERROR: VMU mailbox creation - Item 096

It did not create the mailbox. Any suggestions?

Take a backup of the system and e-mail me the link.

Ill be glad to take a look, on the top of my head i have not seen that problem befor.

WHen the backup has been made, it is saved in the PCX Tools\Targaprod\customerdb's (or something like that)

Also try and warm reset the system, and try a different xtn number for the vmu.

Hi there Joel!

Thanks very much for the offer! I have resolved (well pseudo-resolved anyways) this problem.

It appears as though this comes down to a license issue

I exported the "ver HW and SW Overview" to a text file, and read it, according to this .ver file, "Remote Customization (VMU)" is Enabled

HOWEVER

When I look in System -> Software Key -> Details -> Callfacilities, the "Voice Mail Remote Customisation" is actually both greyed out, and is "n.a." for both "Authorised by software key" and "Really activated".

So in other words, I really don't have the slightest CLUE why the exported file says that it's enabled!!

My workaround was to use an unused Analogue port instead of a virtual terminal for the VM. This was such a pain to setup. For the benefit of others, this is how I did it:

1. find a spare analogue port
2. in subscribers/basestations, assign the internal extension that you want to the port (we used 250)
3. in the subscriber's details, create a mailbox for this subscriber
3. plug in an analogue phone to the port
4. it will tell you, "your voice mail is not initialised"
5. dial the code for "Mailing" (in my case, it was 67)
6. enter a name and password for the VM

After this is all done, I can now dial 500 (VM hunt group number) wait for the nice french lady to talk, then enter the VMU extension, wait for the prompt, enter the password, and now have access to the voice mail box.

To tie this to the DDI, I did the following:

1. In subscribers/basestations, go to the details of the VM subscriber that was created and within the Dynamic Routing, make sure that "Routing to Gen. Level" is NOT checked, and check the Use Timer 1 and make the destination to the standard VM hunt group (in my case, 500). - Make sure "diversion apply" is checked

2. In "Diversion", make an "IMMEDIATE" diversion (Telephone) to the hunt group that you want the call to go to (in our case, this was 501).

3. In the Hunt group that the call is going to, within the Dynamic Routing, make sure that the Routing to Gen level is NOT checked, and Use Timer 1 and again, point this to the General VM Group (500 for us again)

4. In the Public Numbering Plans, I added a Subscriber function with the DDI number (starting and ending with it) and the base of the new VM subscriber.

Summary:

1. Now whenever someone dials this number, it will ring at all stations in the hunt group 501
2. If noone answers, or all are busy, it will go to the VM box 250
3. To get the messages from VM box 250, I have to enter 500 on the keypad, wait for the voice to finish, enter 250, then the password.

I have setup notification (for the main user of this phone line) so that when their terminal is free, they will be notified of the message, by receiving a call (3 calls, spaced out by 1 minute) and they can then consult the messages this way.

What I WANT to do now is to program a key for this new VMU, and have tried (and failed). If anyone out there knows a step-by-step for doing this, I'd be VERY appreciative!!
