export of configuration to a replacement switch

I need to replace a switch with a bad fan. I plan to change it out and then have it repaired or replace the fan myself. can I copy the working certified configuration to file for import to the replacement switch from the one with the maintenance problem? anyone know?

Do a "write memory" to save your configuration in the "working" directory then download/upload the boot.cfg to an external server.
