Alex,
it means:
"no such service" and it's not related to kind of OS on server
so service of secure LDAP didn't install, but why?

krzysioD wrote:, but why?

Who knows?
On winxp this part of installation starts in C:\4760\Netscape\server5\slapd-4760 directory

Do you install directly on the server (not using Remote Desktop or similar tools)?

Local install
1st thing that i dit is to disable IIS.

Well.
"The service name is invalid."
That's clear name's wrong, exe not found, no rights to start that service etc.
Looks like you need to activate "debug" option for the installation.
May be it would be useful to check Windows Events logs.

hi
the install of sun one is producing also a log file
should find this one under %temp% folder
most probable cause is port 389 in used (s it is not iis conflict )
but either
* Active direcotry conflict : you should not run 2 servcie on same port : LDAP 4760 and LDAP AD: remove AD part
* a ghost state of port 389 is used: reinstall windows, i neither get any other means to get rid of such issue except by a reinstall
it coud be also linked to cert file for ldaps badly copied
having ldap log file of installation should help us: name of the file is something like directoryxxx

Had a similar problem on a HP/Compaq machine. Had to update Bios then reinstall the OS before sucessfuly instaling Omnivista 4760.
Also had a similar problem because of an invalid PC name (> 15 characters), make sure it complies with the TCO
"The name of the computer must not have the following characters ., -, + (dot, dash, plus). You make sure that the "NetBios name of the computer" is the same as the "name of the computer". To read the "NetBios name of the computer", click on the button Other from modification window of the name of the computer."
Only other possibility that falls to mind is when installing form a USB device.
