Problem description
Connectivity issues have been reported with OMC local V24 connection on some PowerCPU's.
When the problem occurs, following error message is displayed on OMC : " 777. The connection attempt
failed because the modem or (other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order…"
This issue is due to a DTR signal random level on some PowerCPU's.
2 Solution
The issue can be fixed with a modification of the V24 cable described in the Technical Documentation
a) Standard cable (technical documentation)
RJ45 SUB D9 on PC
1 7 RTS
3 3 TXD
5 5 GND
6 2 RXD
8 8 CTS
2 4 DTR
7 6 DSR
b) Modified cable
Disconnect the DTR and DSR signals on the SUB-D9 connector and loop pin 4 & 6 :
RJ45 SUB-D9 on PC
1 7 RTS
3 3 TXD
5 5 GND
6 2 RXD
8 8 CTS
2 ∫∫ 4 DTR
7 ∫∫ 6 DSR
Note : the modified cable is compatible with all CPUs (CPU-1 to CPU-4 and CPUe-1/2) and all
PowerCPU's.
3 PowerCPU enhancement
A hardware modification is applied on the PowerCPU's with reference : 3EH73084 AKJD 08.
These boards were delivered from the factory since the following dates :
- August 10th 2011 for PowerCPU with serial number ZSR 011 222xxxx (*)
- August 29th 2011 for PowerCPU with serial number ACC 011 241xxxx (*)
(*) ABC 011 222 xxxx

thank you so much
now, i can success to connect

Hello,
It's important to say, with a new POWERCPU the config port is in "trace mode" so you need to change in "PPP mode" to log with the modified cable.
**in hyperterminal:
login:swap_serial
pass:alcatel
Restart the POWERCPU and the config port is in "PPP mode"

**or by LAN:
https://192.168.92.246/services/webapp/
login:installer
pass:pbxk1064
choose swap serial and "PPP mode"
Restart the POWERCPU and the config port is in "PPP mode"

regards

It's really getting annoying for me to try to connect serially RS232 to OXO ! My work laptop Lenovo Y560 is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (I know, not the ideal OS fo PABX things...) and until recently I used a USB to RS232 adapter (prolific driver) and a modified blue Cisco cable (2 pins disconnected and connected together, as read in another post here) . I WAS able from time to time (most likely after several tries...) to connect serially to an OXO R8.x (PowerCPU) , OXO R6 (cpu-3m) and OXO R2.x(cpu-1) with OMC921 28.1a, OMC921.29.1a, OXO R2 and R6 with OMC610 6.1d. And with Hper Termina I can connect I see messages, the powerCPU is set up for v24 mode. To be short , I could not rely on serial connection, and if I forgot or did not know the IP address the solution was rewritethe CPU with LOLA ! I am aware that Prolific related USB to COM do not work ok , so I ordered an expresscard i-tec to RS232 that suppose to emulate better a serial port. Surprise, I did not even manage to connect once to OXO, and the card's drivers are installed OK , the COM port is set up as COM 1, 115200, 8,N, 1, hardware . When I was able to connect , COM1 was even set up ad 9600,8,N,1, none and the Alcatel V24 modem installed by the OMC has taken the USB to COM and set it up as 115200,8,N,1, hardware. Changing the COM1 in Device Manager did not affect the connection, since the port settings is overwritten by the Alcatel V24 modem. I uninstalled the Alcatel v24 modem and now if I try to re-add it Alcatel modems does not even appear in the list( on all of the 3 OMC installed on my PC). It's odd to reinstall OMC just to have the posibility to add that V24 modem. On my previous laptop, HP 6570 with a hardware COM I was always able to connect , also on Windows 7 64 bit. On this Lenovo Y560 I have a Microsoft Virtualmachine with Windows XP 32 bit and still no serial connection possible, teh result is the same message : the mode is out of service or in use. And it is NOT in use, I checked at Com port in Windows device manager. The same happens with my home laptop on Windows 7 64 bit. Since the laptops with a hardware serial port are rare I guess Alcatel-Lucent should troubleshoot this problem, especially because the Windows XP is an old OS and all of the new laptops come with Window 7 or 8. And they say that OMC is compatile with them...
So, what am I missing here ? The OMC it suppose to use that Alcatel V24 modem to connect with the hardware Com 1 (harware Com, USB to Com, Expresscard) , which connects to the Config port of an Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office. Am I right ? Why it is working only sporadically, and only on a hardware COM it always work? Who is to blame : Windows, Alcatel-Lucent ?
I can try almost every combination of OMC, OXO firware, PowerCPU or CPU, with the same bad results.

Early release power cpu's require a modified serial connection when making up the D9. Note: colours may be different. Loop the D9 4 and 6 and leave disconnected from the RJ45 this should work on all cpu's
RJ45 SUB-D9 on PC
1 7 RTS Blue
3 3 TXD Black
5 5 GND Green
6 2 RXD Yellow
8 8 CTS Grey
2 4 DTR Orange
7 6 DSR Brown
