OXE VMware appliance

I have mine working fine, Piped TCP for Serial port is mandatory, otherwise installation can't be done.

What is weird for me is that a previous installation stopped working on it's piped. Had to reinstall all again, weird.

Installation can be done without Piped TCP for Serial if you choose 'Blade Server' instead of 'Appliance Server' in PC Installer. In that case kernel console isn't redirected to serial port.

You can use a physical COM port of your computer, too, if you don't want to use a piped one :D . But what's the point?

Another solution for Serial Port use is to direct to a Pipe with server side on the OXE emulation and as a client in another Virtual machine with another OS , like Linux with Minicom or Windous with HyperTerminal

I just install Release 8.0 on Vmware, all is working fine.

For Serial I'm currently using Named Pipe TCP Proxy.

For R8 seems you don't have to do the hack of mac address anymore. I did my install and everything went smooth.

R8 can be installed as blade server and NPTP is not necessary anymore (at least during install)
