Using Power Module ETR and non-ETR in same chassis

Post by thekotaksampah »

Dear Fellas,

I need your advice about my 7210 SASM box. one of power module is failed. the module PS - 7210 SAS-M ETR -48V DC Power Supply and my box is 7210 SAS-M 24F 2XFP ETR-1. I have a spare PS 7210 SAS-M non-ETR. Can I replace the power module with different part? ( I mean here, replace ETR Power supply with non-ETR power supply). Is it Ok running the box well when the power module is different?

Thanks for help

Hi there,

There is a note on page 41 of the SAS-M installation guide as below.

Notes: The 7210 SAS-M 24F 2XFP ETR version must use the extended temperature range power
supplies.

Whether that means that it won't work or not, I'm not sure as I haven't tried it but the installation guide is quite clear. I guess your operating environment would dictate what temperature range you require. Installing a non ETR power supply may mean that the power supply is running beyond it's operational range and all the hazards that go along with that.

Operating Temperature For non-ETR variant: 0º C to 50º C (-32º F to 122º F) (standard) IEC
68-2-14
For ETR variant: -40º C to 65º C (-49º F to 149º F) (standard) IEC
68-2-14
