For UA link - we have limitation 1200 m (from signal transmission/reception point of view). For some cables less.
For IBS connected to different MG:
- if coverage areas not overlapped - no problem (phone lost one IBS and after find next one)
- if overlapped - you need connect all BS to one shelf
- or (like work around) you can switch off/on handset (if you go to another building but phone not switched to new IBS)

Re: IBS Handover MG
I've gone well beyond this distance without issue.
The book says, is not always real life, plus I said Twisted Pair which will also significantly increase the distance possible for a UAi link to work, you can then add the already mentioned Local Power Supply at the end point and go even further in distance.
You need to think about copper cable underground networks that run for many many miles and have carried voice comms for many many decades.

Vad, you can lay awake at night worrying if you like. I actually go out in the field and do this work for a living, I don't live behind a keyboard everyday. I believe I have answered your scepticism.

Lmao vad seems he thinks he knows everything. Mtconsulting I think the scenario you describe is not plain cable as you mentioned. So for a new user can be misleading. We as experienced guys can do more than documented stuff as we can support it properly but not the same for new guys

My post was written without scepticism
. I'm just want to know - it was really IBS?
Power supply for IBS usually used for common hardware (because we have some limitation for MG power supply.
In my practice - but for UA sets, not IBS BS - we try to work with cable more then 1,2 km (twisted pair, 0,9 mm core) but without success.

I know it, because when you ask is you wanna help or understand
For what I understand he used some extra help to achieve that. Maybe he can provide the full details...hopefully
