Moved House and Need help with 4020 Assembly

Post by rohanonice »

Hi Everyone,

Complete newbie here! I recently moved into a new house which previously had 4 fully functional Alcatel 4020 phones. However, the previous house owners dissasembled everything and left the phones behind. There is a big central processor in the garage which is powered on.

The problem is when I plug in the any of the phones into the BT phone socket, there is no power. I can't see any place in the phone for a power adaptor to go into. Am I right in assuming that the 4020 (premium reflexes) gets its power over ethernet?

I can only assume the problem is something I'm doing since its rather unlikely that 4 phones would stop working at the same time.

Please Help. :)

Those are digital phones, should go to a UA board.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a UA board?
Should I just plug it into the phoneline socket or does it need anything in between?

Will depend on your hardware type, is it crystal (http://www.comnetpl.cz/img/sluzby/ustredny/4400.jpg) or common hardware (http://ezylan.com/hinh/alcatel-oxe-common.JPG)?
If common, yes plug directly
If Crystal then no, you need a MDF in the middle.
