Re: Alcatel Simulator
Hello,
That is possible to simulate OXE with Virtualbox or Vmware. Get a OXE release from ALU BPWS, if you have an account.
After having set your Virtualbox with an OS (other linux). You can install the OXE version with the Omnipcx installer.
You will need to have OPS licences. You can load in your virtual machine any OPS licenses accordingly with the right OXE version.
It will be valid for 30 days only. After you will have to reinstall and to reload the OPS licenses file. Except if someone can
tell you how to bypass this probelm.
You will be able to use IP phone and sip phone. Digital and analog is not possible, they need to be connected behind specific boards.
If you have some hardware GD(and also to play with voice guides and conference), SLI or UA boards, you will be able to do it. You can also simulate OXE pbx network.
Configuration that you will be able to do, will depend of the opened licenses from your OPS.
Regards.

Re: Alcatel Simulator
Hi ,
I installed the OXE software in VMware and it was working fine in my case. You may use the Magic disk software for mounting the OXE .iso file and select the hardware type as blade server in PC installer.

Re: Alcatel Simulator
jiggsaww is talking about AOS for data equipments not about voice equipments.
Unfortunately this is not available for business partners by my knowledge.

Re: Alcatel Simulator
Thanks for the prompt replies guys (girls?) and the information...however I was talking about simulators for the data side such as the MPLS and so devices and not voice.
If that is not possible tot3nkopf then how is one supposed to learn the Alcatel products or even support them? I would love to get into Alcatel equipment

Re: Alcatel Simulator
That question should be placed at Alcatel.jiggsaww wrote: If that is not possible tot3nkopf then how is one supposed to learn the Alcatel products or even support them? I would love to get into Alcatel equipment
My best answer can be: learn Cisco --> 80% of the knowledge and commands work on Alcatel data products or simply go to training at Alcatel.
Re: Alcatel Simulator
Thank you tot3nkopf!
I thought I was the only one that thought the commands were similar to Cisco.

Probably they were intended to be. You can imagine that it is much more easier for a network engineer to work with a similar set of commands on different equipments.jiggsaww wrote: I thought I was the only one that thought the commands were similar to Cisco.
Also there are brief certification paths available for certified engineers on Cisco or Juniper in order to become ALU certified.
