Hi ,
what is needed to power up a OmniPCX Media Gateway common hardware large rack?
What do you need ot power a OmniPCX Media Gateway

They come in two different types, the AC powered which also has DC input and DC powered which has no AC input.
The AC Powered can be plugged directly to your AC power source while the DC powered one requires rectifier. ALU usually sell rack mount Cherokee rectifiers along with DC powered Media gateway.

Hi thanks for your reply,
I have a cherokee battery charger with four 12V batteries.
The OmniPCX media gateway has only a -48V input at the back of it with a mating connector Mate-N-Lok 3 - pole socket.
I have a Mate-N-Lok 3 - pole socket cable.
I have connected one end of the Mate-N-Lok 3 - pole socket cable to one of the 4 outputs of the PE6500/50 battery charger.
There are 4 outputs labelled Out 1 to Out 4.
I have connected the other end of the Mate-N-Lok 3 - pole socket cable to -48V input at the back of the OmniPCX media Gateway.
I have plugged the AC power into the AC input of the cherokee PE6500/50 battery charger.
I am not getting power to the Media Gateway.
Am I to a assume that since the media gateway has only a -48V input it can only be powered with dc voltage and will only work with the four 12V DC batteries that have come with the PE6500/50 battery charger.

Hi Alan,
First check ur voltage output from cherokee charger, it will not be exactly 48v, may be 48v to 52v dc...do not try to connect the cabinet until u make sure power is out from the charger...
step 1 - connect the batteries series..then connect to charger (some chargers will give u output after u connect the batteries)
step 2 - connect AC power to cherokee charger, swtich on the charger, check the output voltage first then connect to media gateway...
of course it can work with four 12v dc batteries...
cheers...
