Captive portal on http in stead of https

When using the captive portal it uses a https page by default. Is there any way to change it to http?

Most users don't understand the stange certificate page where they need to accept the stange certificate.

Since you provide user credentials via unencrypted ways then, this would be a security flaw.

I'm not aware that https can be changed to http.

I think it should be possible to replace existing certificate by a Verisign/official cert ?
