Hi guys,
Just want to check, i have been reading on the hardware guide that explains Stacking, but still a little confused about it.
I have an existing stack of 3 switches now (working), now i have plans to install 2 additional switch into the stack, how can i proceed?
1) Are the stacking hot pluggable?
2) Would there be downtime to the existing infrastructure if i disconnect the redundant cable in order to fit them in?
3) Does the new switches have to follow the software version of the existing stack? or can i simply install it in and push the settings and software from the master?
The above 2 are the main queries. Hope somebody here can help to answer.
Thanks guys.

This also depends on the AOS release you're running, if it is very old - you might have issues.
Normally you should be able to add units to the stack without any down-time. My best-practice is to put the same AOS on the unit as the "stack" is running and already set the "stack number" prior to adding the element to the stack.
The new element will then download the same AOS which is running on the "primary" (and all other elements in the stack).
Hope this helps.
