Encryption: Alcatel OXE <=> SIP Provider

Post by Kinne_DUP »

Hi,

the OXE supports encryption between the IP phones and between the OXE gateway and the IP phone. Therefore there seems to be that Thales box (SSM).

But does it support SIPS and SRTP encryption between it and a SIP provider? My SIP provider does support SRTP and SIPS,so?

I can´t find any description about this feature. If sou

I believe not. This is a question made by a customer and presales guys told not to be an option right now. However with R9 and new features (still have to get documentation) wouldn't be surprised that something is around there.

Hi cavagnaro,

thanks for your answer. I was looking for a solution and found

http://www1.alcatel-lucent.com/enterpri ... ber_09.pdf

If you look at page 12, you see that a session border controller with support of SRTP/TLS is mentioned: "SIP TLS, sRTP (version 5.2)" is mention. Which version 5.2 are they referring to?

Interesting...I would have to guess they refer to the session border controller. I will show this to the jackass of ALU who told us not possible and ask him for more info...will let you know.

OXE does not support SIPS / SRTP to secure SIP calls, but you could take any SBC
and declare this SBC under address to protect as an OTUC server, with this configuration
the voice from IPTouch to the SBC is encrypted. I've seen this configuration working,
but it's not supported by ALU :(

of course you need a MSM box in front of your SBC and remember the limit of 250
calls per MSM box

The example in the pdf show only SIPS / SRTP from the SBC to other SIP equipment
which mean that it's not secured in your network, but behind the SBC.

So with a MSM in front of the SBC you could secure the voice on both sides.
