CCA and CCS Servers on VMware ESX

Hi,

We have been running with physical servers for our CCA and CCS servers for some time now and the hardware is getting quite old. Since we have recently made a large investment on a VMware ESX environment I would like to virtulise these servers.

I have been told by our supplier that Alcatel will not support these servers running in a Virtual environment however I suspect that there lack of understanding is the reason for this response. Can someone please tell me if they have CCA or CCS servers running in a virtual environment and also if they are running on Windows server 2003 R2, as currently the boxes are running in Windows Server 2000.

As CCA server it's OK to run it under VMware.
Ask your BP if he had heard about BiCS it should help to make your point.

The 'officially' supported apps are CCA server, OV server and OXE (the telephone application itself) on single BiCS server.

Don't know/never tested the CCS server, but OV + CCA server work very, very good and stable.
Also services like tsapi server work well.

Of course if you install your OV/CCA server by yourself on vmware its not supported.
If U buy the BiCS => it gets supported... strange?

I believe because they put limits on VMWare environments, for example on OTUC they removed a lot of stuff and therefore has a lot of limits, like no TTS for example.
Now understanding how OTS works, I will also think that maybe number of agents logged in simultaneously will be the limit. For more agents more resources will be needed, how does Alcatel support people will be sure that you did the right dimensioning and if a problem raises is not a problem related to this?
Stuff like that will make sense on giving or not support...

Alcatel does't provide support for servers run in virtual enviorement (except BICS ), but they run well in it. CCS has a problem with terminal server, but CCA works well in my lab on VMWare.
