Dear All,
My Customer has two systems in two different sites ( say : Site A and Site B ). Both using Common Hardware ( MG )
They are planning to close one of the site ( Site B ) and want to bring the PABX used on site B to Site A, and Inter-connect it with the existing PABX on Site A.
I propose those system to be connected using ABC network over E1 ISDN PRA.
The distance between both system will be around 150 meter. Can I directly connect both E1-PRA board using Cooper cable ?, what is the maximum cable length supported ?
If that distance is not possible, can I use this converter ?
Edimax ET-912 Series: 100Base 10/100BaseTX To 100Base-FX Media Converter

Thanks
Maximum cable lenght to Connect two System ( MG system )
Re: Maximum cable lenght to Connect two System ( MG system )
With cabel CAT5 - 300m.
In doc you can find this - System doc/ Hardware/ Cables/ Connection max. length.

@elcoma7
The converter you mentioned is a Ethernet over Fibre converter.
To extend the E1 connection (with DSS1 signaling or with DATA circuits or with any other thing...) you need something like
this: http://www.fibridge.com/ArticleShow.asp?ArticleID=164
I think that edimax/dlink/ovislink etc... have no products to extend the E1 connection.
If you want to connect 2 ALU MediaGateway pbxes with IP (ethernet, using ethernet converters like you mentioned) connection you need to know if PBXes have a MADA cards (on GD/GA boards).
BTW: if both PABXes are in possesion of one customer you could ask ALU about merging two pbx into one pbx, you could move licenses to one PBX and move DID/DDI numbers from your TELco from many PRA/BRA connection to one place.

Hi Vad,
Thanks For Your Information.
Hi krzysioD
I believe that if using IP, the cost will be more expensive. that's why we're planning to use E1-PRA.
If we can merge both PABXs, it will be great. because that's exactly what they want.
thanks for your information

That's what I would do, I would move the licenses from one node to the other. Then you have one node to manage instead of two.
They could also purchase the redundancy license (assuming they don't already have it) and utilize the other cpu as a backup.

Re: Maximum cable lenght to Connect two System ( MG system )
Yeap, having 2 CPUs is better than having one...
Also count that for example, having 2 PRA lines with 2 DID/DDI numeration costs: 2 x monthly flat rate for E1 connection + 2 x rates for telco traffic. If you go for 1 PRA line, you cut at least 1 monthly rate for E1 connection. For Telco it's a one (pair of) HDSL modem less. If traffic is not so big, than one PRA could handle like 200-300 normal buissness/office workers without a problem.
Don't remeber extact value, but i think that HSL cable (MEX HSL to GD HSL) is like 95 m max ? Maybe there is an option for having second cabinet connected by GD/MEX (it's better (cheaper, more channels for calls avalible) than by IP).
I think that elcoma7 should talk with some BP and ask for possible options to select the best one for his company.
