Time synchronization

Anyone know if you can synchronize the 4400 with some other outside time source. We are getting complaints that the phone time and computer time are not the same.

I would believe in release earlier 5.1.2 , you can run a ntp client. You would have to run this client also on your network computers.

From what I remember, I think I saw the option of the NTP server on the 5.1.2

What version are you running ?
I can try to check it out later next week..

We are running the following:

Voicemail - 5.1.4
4400 - d2.314
4760 - 2.1.13.01
Visual Messenger - 2.015.01

Does the time come from the voicemail system?

No, the voicemail system time is synchronized from the omnipcx.
The omnipcx gets the time for the bios clock.
You can override the bios clock from the command prompt, and because it OS is based on BSD, (untill 5.0LX and new releases), you can run a NTP client. I will check it out later next week..

Before Ux you have no ntp in OS.Even "timed" daemon in Chorus has something to be configured in it - e.g., stand-by CPU gets current time from the Main CPU when starting telephone application.But I have no success in configuring it (I mean "timed" daemon).
Since Ux (as it is cut-to-fit Mandrake Linux) you can configure ntp to get time from the server outside.Unforunately, I have no time to test it.
In you release I see only one possibility - if you have ISDN connection to your provider.It can provide current timeand date in q.931 frame as DATE/TIME IE supplied e.g. in CONNECT message. By the way, your network can provide local time or UTC.
In shelf/board/digital access you have parameter "network Date/Time update" set to "Yes" to get time from network.

We're in R5.0 d2 314.4b and I've not possibilities to synchronize via NTP

but I'm very interestins to upgrade for that because the clock of PABX is not always good

It's difficult to put in place ? it's via the menu "swinst" ?

Otherwise, for others, you can use the protocol "daytime" from PABX. I've a document.

I tied to sinchronize with the PRA time suplied from the telecomunications operator:

Alveolo 0\Board 15\Digital Access 0\Date/time set from network

but it didn't work (and made the sistem to crash).
