Factory reset and update firmware

Post by namezys »

I'm helping to build a network for a school. Because of lack of funds, I got 3x used OS6450-P48.

I walked through docs:
  • Hardware Users Guide
  • Switch Management Guide
  • Network Configuration Guide

I logged in and can see some files, a lot of them are not described in docs.

How can I clear files that I will not have anything from a previous owner?
Also, I see that the version is 6.7.2.107.R03 which is not the latest. At least I was able to find -R08.
Can somebody help to update to the last version?

BTW, we need basic functions:
  • remote staking
  • vlan
  • maybe QoS if we will use IP phones
  • PoE
PS: I have basic network knowledge so I'm familiar with ethernet, VLAN, STP, console, etc. Not a professional network engineer, just a software engineer.

You can delete all files within the switch - beside the image-files in working and certified.
At least you should delete in working/certified all cfg-files and the usertables in /network.
For update: load the new files (KF**.img) to the working directory and make a reload without saving before (only "reload from working no rollback-timeout). After the switch comes back "write memory flash-synchro". Thats all.
For remote stacking you don't need special config. Only the SFP+ in the stacking-module back-site.
PoE: lanpower 1 start (for the first chassis/slot).
