No login prompt via serial console

Post by ferby09 »

Greetings,
I've bought an used OS6350-P24 and it works out of the box. But if I try to login via serial console to activate a GUI (there is one, right?), I don't get a login prompt, it's just the cursor.
If I restart the switch with serial connected I get the following output:

Code: Select all

I've already tried pressing enter, typing admin but it doesn't react at all.
Should I reset the switch again? It should be possible via Miniboot, right?

I'm using putty at baudrate 9600 btw.

depending of your usb-to-serial-adapter you need sometimes to change the flow control (XON/XOFF or RTS....) - please try something there.

Thank you for your tips!
I've managed to communicate via serial in putty with baudrate 9600.
I had to change some settings in the Windows device manager for my serial adapter:
baudrate 9600
data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control xon/xoff

flow control was set to none before. When I changed settings in putty for flow control and/or baudrate it didn't work.

However, I still can't login...
The switch should be reset but admin/switch as username/password gives me the following error message:

Code: Select all

TUE MAR 14 18:14:25 : SESSION (71) info message:
+++ [SES] Authentication failed: Session 0, access type Console
+++ [SES] Session 0, user "admin"
+++ [SES] Session 0, IP address 0.0.0.0
Authentication failure.
I've already tried resetting the switch in miniboot by deleting boot.cfg from working and certified folders.
Resetting the password didn't work either when I deleted userTable6 (userTable5 doesn't exist) from network folder.
Thank you for your help so far!

Did you get sorted out here? I can help you out, I've done this several times with various Alcatel OS6350 and 6450 switches. Let me know.

Sorry for the late reply but I've been busy with other projects so I put it aside.

Deleting the user table with the highest number worked!
Thank you for your help!
