Hello there, I have a stack consisting of two Alcatel OS6860E-P48 and one of them has failed, it seems that the fan is not spinning anymore and that it has stopped giving service
Fortunately I have three spare switches of the same hardware model and one I want to use to replace the corrupt module
What precautions should I follow?
The software version is the same, but can I connect the second module to the first and does it receive the configuration in use? or do I have to configure the new module isolated via console cable and then connect it?
Fault and replacement
Re: Fault and replacement
clear all the configuration in the folders working and certified of the new switch:
rm /flash/working/vc*
rm /flash/certified/vc*
Than power down this device, replace it with the old switch (at least connect the stacking ports) and power up the new device.
After some minutes the new switch will join the vc and get all the firmware and config from the actual master (maybe a second reboot will happen automaticly).
Best regards
Silvio

Re: Fault and replacement
Thanks Silvio.
I have a switch still boxed up. Should this procedure be followed also for new switches like him or do I always have to delete these two directories?

Re: Fault and replacement
If you are sure that the switch is realy new (untouched - not even powered up) than you can connect it to the existing VC and than power it up for the first time.
