Please help me for solution!

Dear all,
My customer want to equip Alcatel - Lucent wireless System to monitor the traffic on road.
They want to use a Master AP and 40 Slave APs with radius they want to cover is 40km.
But I don't know the exact that the wave of APs can cover? Does I need use an anten to push the wave?
Please help me.

With that APs that we currently have, it will be very hard to transmit 40km. There are also a lot of factors that need to be determined before you order and install the AP's and external antennas.
