Best way to script configuration for multiple switches

Post by mcpatel »

All - wanted to get collective opinion of what is the best way to replicate configuration for multiple switches.

We have around 25 6860E switches, which will all have the same config at a base level, some ports may differ but all VLAN's, SPB, services etc will all be the same.

Is there a easy way to replicate config's to each of the switch for the first time. Or is it line by line the only option.

At the start it is a good idea to create one basic-config as text-file. Than you can copy-paste it via the terminal to all the switches (one by one).
Later (if you have f.e. configured the snmp settings via the basis-config) you can use f.e. OmniVista 2500 with the included ssh-scripting feature.
best regards
