The Role: Trend Micro are looking for a Communications Engineer to join our European IT Team based in our European Operations Centre in Cork City. We are seeking a dynamic engineer who has experience and interest in supporting cutting edge collaboration/communication tools using audio/video. The role also involves support of legacy contact centre infrastructure, supporting systems as well as associated processes. The ideal candidate will be a forward looking individual who can communicate effectively at all levels (Engineering, Management and external parties with excellent analytical skills. The candidate must be able to work in a dynamic and fast changing environment.
The Responsibilities:
- Managing our smart meeting and unified communications infrastructure in the European region
- Maintaining current VOIP infrastructure and supporting global rollout of next-generation VOIP solutions in the European region
Documentation of systems and communication processes throughout the European region
- Consulting with business stake holders to understand and design future communication requirements, in line with forward looking trends and technologies
- Maintaining voice/data networking environment including routers, switches, VPNs, wireless APs, and WAN accelerators, updating system configurations, updating firmware, upgrading existing systems, documenting, and enforcing system standards;
- Maximizing voice/data network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources;
- Securing voice/data network system by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access;
- Supporting/administrating firewall environments in line with Infosec Security policy;
- Designing/implementing new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment;
- Supporting remotely on-site engineers during installations;
- Managing capacity and auditing of IP addressing and hosted devices within office data centres;
- Liaising with Global team, 3rd line engineers and service desk engineers to support existing service or new projects for the European region;
- Administering of Alcatel contact centre facilities and voice communication systems with support from an external vendor
- Designing and implementation of call flows, auto attendant / interactive voice routing and statistical reporting with support from an external vendor
- Working with 3rd party communication vendors for system maintenance and support;
- Ad hoc support of both Business Applications & MIS Engineers;

- Proven hands-on network engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- CCNA or equivalent
- Experience of VMware virtual environments and software defined networking
- Alcatel / Telecoms qualifications advantageous
We use an extensive range of networking equipment for voice/data networks, familiarity with our established infrastructure is essential, experience with specific technologies is preferable
