Asterisk - Alcatel OXE CID Name

Post by HannesR »

Hi,

We currently have an alcatel oxe connected to our asterisk pabx over ISDN with a patton gateway in between. Everything is working well, exept Caller ID Name. When we set up a call from asterisk to an alcatel phone we only see the number of the internal extension, not the name. In the T3 trace on the alcatel pabx we can see the name under USER_USER:

| IE:[04] BEARER_CAPABILITY (l=3) 90 90 a3
| IE:[18] CHANNEL (l=1) 89 -> T0/S0 : B1 channel exclusive
| IE:[1e] PROGRESS_ID (l=2) 81 83
| IE:[6c] CALLING_NUMBER (l=6) -> 00 80 Num : 5150
| IE:[70] CALLED_NUMBER (l=5) -> 80 Num : 0324
| IE:[7e] USER_USER (l=7) 04 -> `Hannes`

I have read all the threats & posts in this forum, all settings should be correct... At this moment i have no idea what's the reason the name is not displayed on the alcatel phones (or the asterisk phones).

Thanks in advance for the help!

First of all It is not CNIP at all.
OXE understands only DISPLAY IE and FACILITY IE for CNIP with some limitations mentioned in a system documentation.

Second it is USER-TO-USER IE. It is not supposed to be handled by OXE - it is just like a "direct data channel" between 2 users. ALU phone sets do not know how to handle this data.

Configure your gateway or Asterisk - anyway it is open source - why not to correct some lines in libpri 8) ?

Never worked with Asterisk via VoIP/TDM gateway.
In your case it could differ what protocol is used between Patton and Asterisk, but in any case Asterisk sends a calling name over H.323 or SIP if it's configured in user conf file. With H.323 it is easier because H.323 is basically Q.931.

So you'd better start with Patton - how it handles names on VoIP/E1 transit.

Maybe you should use (if possible) QSIG-GF between Patton and OXE.

Ok, thanks for the tips! On alcatel side the trunk is already QSIG-GF.
