Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
Can you help us on why when we do port mobility enable this error shows. We will be deploying 802.1x
AL14FIDRFBR2STSW01# vlan port mobile 4/29
ERROR: Port is absent or not a mobility candidate (tagged, aggregable, stacking, mirroring or vpls_access port)
AL14FIDRFBR2STSW01# vlan port mobile 4/29
ERROR: Port is absent or not a mobility candidate (tagged, aggregable, stacking, mirroring or vpls_access port)
Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
like written - mostly there is 802.1q-tagging active.
Just today I have seen the same issue at an old switch (similar to yours). There all was configured correct - but same message.
After update to a newer release the issue was solved.

Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
Hi Silvo,
problem is we have already tested 2 ports successfully last year:
vlan port mobile 4/32
vlan port 4/32 802.1x enable
vlan port mobile 5/32
vlan port 5/32 802.1x enable
we are doing the vlan port mobile 4/29 that gives message: ERROR: Port is absent or not a mobility candidate (tagged, aggregable, stacking, mirroring or vpls_access port)

Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
The current AOS 6400 6.4.4.342.R01
Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
did you find within your config (show configuration snapshot) any command for port 4/29?
If no, than make a reboot.

Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
Is this what you need on the port 4/29?
vlan 3085 port default 4/29
vlan 3185 802.1q 4/29 "TAG PORT 4/29 VLAN 3185"
vlan 3085 port default 4/29
vlan 3185 802.1q 4/29 "TAG PORT 4/29 VLAN 3185"
Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
do you have the new update release to test if this will correct the issue
Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
The port is tagged. Delete this with
"vlan 3185 no 802.1q 4/29"
Than you can make the port mobile.
Within 6.4.4. the newest release is 6.4.4.743R01
But the newest release ist 6.4.5.645.R02
You have to ask for the sw your deliverer of the switches, or an other Alcatel-partner in your country.

Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
when we do the "vlan 3185 no 802.1q 4/29", we have no problem on this but when we proceed to port mobile thats what the error says: Port is absent or not a mobility candidate (tagged, aggregable, stacking, mirroring or vpls_access port)
If we use the 6.4.4.743R01 or 6.4.5.645.R02, does this will answer the issue? is this still available to be downloaded? i can't recall if this can be still downloaded since i asked my friend which is ALE partner to check the last sw release of 6400.

Re: Port Mobility Error on AL6400 Switch
Not sure ... but mostly the reboot or update helps with this undefinite errors.
You have checked that this port is not tagged, aggregate, stack, mirror..... - and than this is mostly an software issue.
