On the 80x8s-phones you can't use telnet anymore. You have to use ssh instead:

ippstat telnet d xxx t 1440

ssh -2 –l admin ip-address

(pw: *tx8000#)

telnet to the phone and use the following tls-command after "dot1x tls on": tls tls12 on

to be more precise, you have to use
password is *tx8000#

"ssh -2 admin@ip-address ip-address" doesn't work

Anyone knows how to telnet to the new 8028s-series?

I do a
ippstat telnet d xxxx t 1440
like I did on the 8028/8038/8068 (where xxx is the extension number), but when I try to telnet to the corresponding ip address I get

telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

Bruce, I just wanted to add that you could use an "extended absence greeting" instead of the "personal greeting" to prevent recording of messages in the voice mailbox.

You have to press OK to open the menu an then enter *7378423* (or *service*). But I don't know if that works, because you say you haven't got access to the menu - just try.

Have you checked the audio jack settings of the phone? menu - settings - my set - jack plug - headset/handsfree/loudspeaker
