XML external directory

I have issues with the present directory search. I am using Alcatel omnipcx 8770. For example I have a contact, abc_xyz, when i serach with abc it show the contact abc_xyz. But when i search xyz it doesnot include the said contact. Means it only searches begins with instead of contains.
Can i Use any xml based external directory and provide a url to the sytem.

Plz provide.
