Conflicting configuration duplicateRouterId

Post by CharlesSmith »

Hello,

Anyone have an idea why I keep getting this error?

685311 2022/09/02 09:24:43.86 PST WARNING: OSPF #2043 vprn9099 VR: 10 OSPFv2 (0)
"LCL_RTR_ID 10.250.254.1: Conflicting configuration duplicateRouterId on interface MGMT-MANAGEMENT-INTERFACE from 10.200.73.2 in hello"

This is what I have configured on this box. It has 10.200.73.2/24 set on the MGMT-MANAGEMENT-INTERFACE with 10.200.73.1 as its vrrp IP.

service
vprn 9082 customer 1 create
interface "MGMT-MANAGEMENT-INTERFACE" create
address 10.200.73.2/24
vrrp 111
backup 10.200.73.1

I have another 7750 connected to this using 10.200.73.3/24 as its "MGMT-MANAGEMENT-INTERFACE" IP.

I'm not sure if this is a OSPF error since I get this error constantly:

685309 2022/09/02 09:22:41.12 PST MINOR: VRRP #2007 vprn9099 VRRP check failed
"Discarded VRRP packet from 10.200.73.2 because packet is looped back to itself!"

As far as I can tell, these errors are not taking any services down.
I already went through the network and ensured nothing else has 10.200.73.1, 10.200.73.2 or 10.200.73.3 configured.

Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,

I have definitely had the VRRP error when there has been a physical loop added to the network.

What is your physical topology between devices?

Hey Paramount,

Thank you for the response.

I work in a train facility so it is a little different than what I am used to. I'll do my best to explain

I have 2 7750s as core routers in a vrrp configuration.

for example:

7750-A is 10.10.1.2
7750-B is 10.10.1.3
VRRP IP is 10.10.1.1

I have several trains running on a guideway so they're moving constantly.

Example:

Train 1 = 10.10.1.11 and 10.10.1.21
Train 2 = 10.10.1.12 and 10.10.1.22
Train 3 = 10.10.1.13 and 10.10.1.23
Train 4 = 10.10.1.14 and 10.10.1.24
Train 5 = 10.10.1.15 and 10.10.1.25

Each train has 2 active routers. There are a few switches on each train. The vendor on the trains is the brand MOXA. These MOXA routers have another subnet for all devices on the train. That subnet has a VRRP IP that all the switches refer to as their default route.

These trains communicate with the core using radio devices that I am not familiar with. Another team handles the radio set ups. I did take a peak at their config tool but didn't see my IPs being used.

These errors occur only when the trains are moving. I am not sure if these errors are even breaking anything since the error states that the packets were discarded. The duplicate IP one is questionable but I believe I came across a resource stating that it'll happen every 30 minutes due to LSA refreshes.

Thank you

Hi,

I think a diagram would be needed here, or some direct assistance.
I would also double check CPU/Mem etc., as I have seen CPU shoot right up when the VRRP was looping. Though this was on SR-1s, so more limited memory.

What is the state difference when the trains are moving over when they are stationary? So the only comms to the 7750s, is from the Moxa routers on the train back via the radio links?
