OS 9600 reset
Re: OS 9600 reset
removing boot.cfg in working and certified and rebooting will reset that (if you manipulate the files it's not getting active in running config).
You can of course also remove all the config lines one by one in CLI.
There are still some files (pre-banner.txt, some aclman generated policys) that may be set and that are not stored in boot.cfg
You can afaik: remove all files but the image files in working and certified from /flash and it's subdirectories (including logs, certificates aso) and reboot.
All files should be recreated on boot.
Do not remove *.img!

Re: OS 9600 reset
yep, boot.cfg in working and certified dir keeps vlans, qos, etc
Re: OS 9600 reset
Hi,
you can remove all - beside the imgage-files (.img) in working and especially in certified.

Re: OS 9600 reset
Hi again,
Sorry this thread is getting pretty long. Anyway, after reset, how do I enable the management via the WebView. 'http server' and 'http ssl' commands from the documentation don't seem to work. What I did is I removed everything from the flash but the certified folder, including boot.cfg in certified folder. I got the image of the flash first, if there's something wrong I did I can recover from that.
Thank you

Re: OS 9600 reset
- remove all files from /flash but images
- restart (i would connect console - you should see it generating rsa/dsa keys aso)
- login using console (admin/ switch)
- aaa authentication http local or "aaa authetication default local" should do
(
- http server should be on by default
- ip service http/secure-http should be on by default
)
also you need to create an ip interface for the switch and make the switch "reachable" by ip (e.g. have a correct route, connect/configure correct vlans aso)

Re: OS 9600 reset
devnull,
Thanks for the reply, sorry it's going slow, it's just that I'm actually a web developer and dunno much about networking stuff. I read about 'aaa authentication default local' somewhere else before you replied and already tried that. It worked, I just can't save that configuration. I mean after every reload I have to issue the command to be able to log into the webview. Also, could you please be more specific about creating that ip interface with steps if possible like in your first reply.
Thanks again

Re: OS 9600 reset
I can.. of course.
But you MUST learn how to use your switch. There are manuals which are pretty exhaustive, starting from SW guide handling basic switch setup where IP interfaces and more are handled to network guide (advanced features) and cli guide (lists every command).
Also google comes up with different links
e.g. http://www.latouche.info/admin/user_gui ... witch.html
I can't come up with every basic command, which you will need, as RTFM should always be practiced.
If you can't/ won't do basic research/ tests i would hint for some external setup or training.
You should summarize what you need to configure
e.g.
IP for switch / default route
create a user/change password
enable http/snmp/...
Then try to figure out by manual and ask for remaining steps/verification.
If you need me to do your work i would ask to be paid accordingly
It's like i ask You about creating a webpage not knowing what html-tags, css and javascript are and requesting every single command from you..
"ok i have put in <html><head></head><body></body></html> - can you be more specific what i need to put in that a database query is generated and the table is build and formated?"
to save you need to be running out of working
-> show running-directory
it will be startzed from certifiy
-> copy certified working (flash-synchro)
now
write memory flash-synchro
saves your config

Re: OS 9600 reset
Well, that's fair, I went a little too far. Completely forgot there should be a getting started guide, got it from the internet, everything seems pretty straightforward.
Looks like I got it up and running, there's one thing I'm uncertain about though. Should the empipaddr and the hostipaddr be different? Because the switch seems to allow different addresses as well as the same address for both. Is there like the best practice or something?
Thanks

Re: OS 9600 reset
ip interface SOMENAME address x.y.z/24 vlan 1
-> Adress of vlan (e.g. Routing interface)
EMP Address and hostip (afaik set in nvram?) are IPs for the CMM(s) which is for management purposes EMP -> AFAIK Adress for active CMM - shared between CMMs, hostip is afaik for the specific CMM. This is nice if you need/want to access the CMMs seperatly e.g. for downloading logs, but for a normal switch operation you do not need a EMP/hostip at all.
Be careful: there is no routing between emp interfaces and "normal" network interfaces. EMP is meant for outband management.

Re: OS 9600 reset
Hi devnull,
I have a same problem as before about 9600 password reset
As you answered before I put 1 and 2 pins in J1150. Then I reset the switch and interrupt autoboot. But still there is bo miniboot option. It gives me only rescue menus. How can i enter miniboot option to change the password? Or is there any way to see what password is given to the switch instead of change.
Hope you can answer
Thanks
