IP multicast

Post by Mhunter1993 »

There is a tab with the name "IP multicast", I had tried finding documents about it yet I found no information about it. Is there any documentation about it or can someone explain to me how does it work?

It will help you to configure multicast-routing protocoll PIM. Without multicast routing mc-traffic will keep in same vlan. But PIM needs a routing protocol like OSPF or RIP in your network. You can configure in your routed network the ip-interfaces where mc-traffic will be routed.
If you need only mc-switching (igmp etc.) than you should configure it via cli (script). If you don't have a routing protocoll like OSPF but need mc-routing than you must also configure it via cli. Than DVMRP is the best way....
