I am creating some LACP linkaggs and ran into the error of "Link Aggregate size not allowed".
It seems I can only create sizes 2,4,8. Is this a standard of the LACP protocol? I originally wanted 5 member ports, as I was going to linkagg to port one of a 5 switch stack.
If this is indeed a limitation of the protocol, I know I could oversize it to 8 and only use five, but would that be bad practice or is that perfectly acceptable?
Link Aggregate size not allowed
Re: Link Aggregate size not allowed
There is no problem with larger size.

Re: Link Aggregate size not allowed
Thank you. I may just oversize it to 8, then. However, is this an Alcatel Specific restriction or part of the standard?
Re: Link Aggregate size not allowed
not sure. I think it is because the reservation of hardware resources. The load balancing will be done in hardware. And nowhere you will find f.e. 5 register (or so). So 2, 4 and 8 is possible. But in actual hardware there is no problem with this reservation. In older switches it where a problem if you have f.e. 32 LAG, and for all of them the switch has to reserve 8 resources.

Hi,
There is no way I am allowed to make a first post.
I tried rephrasing the content to allow it, but still in vain.
Kindly let me know what could be the problem.
Thanks
