Hello all,
We get this error when we try to save the configuration .
ERROR: no answer received (timeout)-18 (CLI-mip_msg_nowait_response)
Write Memory failed! Unable to retrieve BRIDGE configuration.
The devices are to OS6900-X20 configured as virtual switch and the OS version is 8.5.196.R04
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
Joan
Write mem failed
Re: Write mem failed
This issue was known some years ago in 8.3.1 ... but solved (I have found it in the knowledge base).
So you can try to solve by itself (if possible in your environment): save the config (show configuration snapshot) in a textfile at your pc, clear all the config (rm /flash/working/vc* and rm /flash/certivied/vc*), reload from working..... you can use this point to make an update to 8.6R1
Than you have a fresh booted switch. If the vc is working, than you can try to put all your config via console to the switch.....
If this isn't possible you should open a ticket at ALE.
regards
Silvio

Re: Write mem failed
Hello Silvio,
Thanks for your answer but unfortunately you get the same error when you try to get the configuration...
CPD-SI_VC6900-X20-> show config snapshot
Please wait...
ERROR: Unable to retrieve BRIDGE snapshot.
Regards,
Joan.

Re: Write mem failed
than you need a downtime to "rescue" your switch. It you have a backup of your config or don't need a backup (because you have a simple config) you can try to use the rescue function direct with an usb stick. This will be the easiest way. Search in the forum for "rescue usb". For both 6900 and 6860 it is the same way - but diffent files to use.
If you have a very long config and no backup ..... you can try to interrupt boot, delete (or rename) both the vc-files in certified and usertable in system. Reboot the switch. Than the switch will start with default settings
After SW-update to the newest release you can rename the vcboot back (or take that from working....). But if the switch have the same issue after the restart than usb-rescue (all files in flash will lost).
