NRS II Lab - Final weeks before exam.

Post by teenoko »

I'm taking my lab in a couple weeks.
Having a hard time choosing what to review/ study.

Any suggestions from experienced users?

Hi.
My advices would be to ensure you have proper hands on experience.

You need to have a good understanding of both ISIS and OSPF.
MPLS services are key, so make sure you know your way around LDP/RSVP and traffic engineering.
Its easy to create time-consuming issues related to MTU.
So know your services, and how they relate to MTU.

Redistribution between protocols / routing policies can be a topic.

Good luck! :)

What NRS-2 number did you get?

How did you find the test?
Hard or fair?

I think it was fair. I had a lot of hands-on experience and utilized GNS3 almost every day.
I can't imagine anyone being able to pass this exam without extensive use of the equipment.

I got hit with MTUs in four different parts of my exam so I'm glad I went back and reviewed to be sure.
I have not received my NRS II number yet, I only received an email with confirmation of a pass. I will update when I do! I am curious myself!

Hi.
Get the NRS2 book, and do the labs.
Ensure you know your way around SROS, and can configure everyting "with a blindfold on".
You must know your MTU, and how this affect the various services.

It's hard to give proper feedback to your request, but I'm sure you know where your knowledge gaps are, and you should study to reduce those, and again, hands-on experience is mandatory!

Good luck!

Hi
I passed my NRS II Lab Exam 3 weeks ago, got the number 1931. It was a fair test but the 3,5 hours exam time went really fast. I wished that it would have been another 30 minuters longer. As all the terminal-windows, PFD-file with the lab-layout and another PDF with the actuall test is all on the same small monitor, you have to waste a lot of time switching between them. Do not get stuck on small details that you cant remember how to do, make a note of them and continue and then go back and fix them if you got the time. Do a LOT of lab-practice before the test and know your MTU.

Good luck!

Björn
